Yevhen Vinichenko: “The quality of petrol with bioethanol depends on the training of operators”

2025-05-07

Since 1 May, Ukraine has changed the requirements for petrol: now 5% bioethanol is mandatory. This is in line with the policy of reducing carbon emissions and is part of Ukraine's commitments to environmental integration with the EU.

In an interview with Suspilne, Yevhen Vinichenko, Director of Supply and Sales of Petroleum Products, told what the changes are, whether they will affect the quality of fuel and how cars react.

"Europe has been using E10 petrol, i.e. with 10% biocomponent, for more than 10 years. During this time, many people have travelled to Europe, refuelled there and had no problems."

He also added that all AMIC ENERGY network equipment has already been prepared – both at oil depots and petrol stations across the country. The company guarantees consistent quality of the new petrol for its customers.

Bioethanol is an alcohol produced from plant material. It reduces CO₂ emissions and can also become an additional market for Ukrainian farmers. At the same time, most modern cars in Ukraine are technically ready for such changes.
