AMIC UKRAINE refutes false accusations of importing petroleum products from Latvia

2023-03-17

On March 14, 2023, various media outlets and Telegram channels in Ukraine circulated an article alleging the purchase of AMIC Ukraine CFI, a state company along with several other players in the market of oil products and LPG from Lithuania and Latvia, which are of questionable, possible Russian origin. The article also suggested that certain suppliers from Latvia utilize counterfeit certificates of origin of goods.

AMIC Ukraine CFI feels that it is essential to inform the public that the company does not import any petroleum products from Latvia at all, including liquefied gas, diesel fuel, or gasoline. Our company imports petroleum products and liquefied gas from Lithuania, which are produced by the Mazeikiai refinery, a part of the PKN Orlen group (which is 49.9% owned by the Polish government).

AMIC Ukraine CFI expresses its outrage at the spread of false information and believes that such actions are deliberate and aimed at damaging the business reputation of the company and other participants in the oil products market.

AMIC Ukraine CFI actively supports the appeal of the Oil and Gas Association of Ukraine to the Prime Minister of Ukraine regarding the ban on the import of oil products of Russian origin into Ukraine by amending the current legislation. The appeal proposes that if it is impossible to establish the country of origin of fuel reliably, then the right to import it into the customs territory of Ukraine should only be granted on the condition of paying a special duty equivalent to 50% of the value of the goods.

It is important to note that AMIC Ukraine CFI is committed to carefully comply with the legislation of Ukraine and is promoting transparency in its business activities.
