For over ten years, AMIC ENERGY has been investing in the development of Ukraine’s fuel market, ensuring a stable supply of fuel, creating jobs, paying taxes and supporting the country’s economy even during the most challenging periods of its recent history. The company continues to operate in Ukraine amidst a full-scale war, investing in the development of its network, energy resilience and the continuity of infrastructure that is critical to the state.
For any international investor, reputation is no less an important asset than production capacity or financial resources. It is the trust of customers, partners, employees and society that lays the foundation for long-term investment, stable business operations and the further development of the country’s economy. For AMIC ENERGY, it is of fundamental importance that public debate regarding the company’s activities is based on facts, rather than on assumptions or manipulation.
Freedom of speech, independent journalism and the public’s right to information are values that AMIC ENERGY consistently upholds, particularly in times of war, when journalistic investigations and public scrutiny are of particular importance. At the same time, this freedom is inextricably linked to a responsibility for accuracy: when statements are presented as facts without proper evidence or contain biased interpretations, the company has the right to defend its reputation through the means provided for by law.
This is precisely why AMIC ENERGY has turned to the Vienna Commercial Court to protect its business reputation in connection with reports by the civil society organisations ‘Anti-Corruption Centre’ and ‘Slidstvo.Info’. The company emphasises that the claims made in these publications lack a proper evidential basis and damage the business’s image. The first stage of the legal proceedings was the filing of an application for interim relief.
Legal proceedings are a civilised means of establishing the objective truth where there is a significant discrepancy between the allegations made and the actual state of affairs. This step is aimed at protecting our business reputation and upholding high standards of professional responsibility and journalistic ethics. We are convinced that the right to criticise is inextricably linked to the duty to rely exclusively on verified information.
AMIC ENERGY believes that a strong economy requires an atmosphere of trust, in which public discourse is based on reliable and verified information. This is precisely why the company consistently upholds the principles of transparency, objectivity and the rule of law.
The company will continue to cooperate openly with the media, civil society, state institutions and partners. We remain committed to Ukraine, continuing to invest in its development, supply consumers with fuel, pay taxes and support the country’s economic stability.
