The Austrian gas station network AMIC ENERGY, in collaboration with the charity foundation «12 Vartovykh», started a joint initiative to sterilize and vaccinate animals living at gas stations and surrounding areas. The idea behind the project is to provide necessary medical assistance and care to stray animals throughout Ukraine.

With the support of «12 Vartovykh» and direct involvement of AMIC ENERGY, all stray animals in the network have been sterilized and vaccinated. Several of the animals needed urgent help, and the foundation evacuated them to Kyiv for additional examinations and surgeries.

«There are dogs living at every gas station, we all know this,» says Lala Tarapakina, founder of the «12 Vartovykh» charity foundation. «From 1 to 10 dogs can be found around every gas station. Our task is to provide the necessary medical care to reduce the number of stray animals in Ukraine. So now, we travel around the country, through AMIC ENERGY stations, and along the way, we provide the medical treatment to the animals».

The mechanism of the project is quite simple: «12 Vartovykh», headed by Lala Tarapakina, in close cooperation with well-known volunteer and animal rights activist Ksenia Bereznaya, the moderator of the process, act as a mobile operational team that provides instant assistance on the spot according to the route and the list of locations provided by AMIC ENERGY.

“We are pleased to bring this initiative to life and are extremely grateful to the «12 Vartovykh» Foundation for supporting us in this mission,” says Audrius Stropus - a CEO of AMIC UKRAINE, CFI. «After the full-scale invasion, a very large number of animals ended up homeless, and of course, some of them seek for a shelter at gas stations. We have faith that other Ukrainian businesses will support us in this initiative and help reduce the number of stray animals».

The co-organizers of the initiative are actively encouraging representatives of other commercial enterprises and gas station chains to join the rescue mission. Together, we can make Ukraine a better place to live for both: people and animals.
